BOYS
IOWA CITY REGINA 63, WEST BRANCH 50
WEST BRANCH — The shooting percentages told the tale Friday at West Branch. Regina shot 60 percent (27-of-45) from the field while the Bears managed 41 percent (16-of-39) as the Regals prevailed 63-50.
Regina (3-1, 3-2) not only shot better but the Regals took six more shots from the field. The Regals led by 10 at halftime and bumped the lead to 14 in the third quarter. The Bears made a run and got within eight but Regina had an answer every time.
'I think we really picked up the intensity on the defensive end, and that led to our offense,' Regina's Nathan Stenger said. 'I think we all played hard and did what we had to.'
Stenger led the Regals with 19 points and Tom Rapp had 16. Sam Stein hit three 3-pointers and finished with 15.
The Bears (1-4, 2-5) were led by Cooper Koenig with 16 and Cooper Kabela with 15.
