Scores and summaries from Friday night's Class 4A boys' basketball substate semifinal games.
Muscatine 61, Linn-Mar 55
Iowa recruit Joe Wieskamp and Muscatine proved too much for Linn-Mar Friday night in a Class 4A substate semifinal boys' basketball game.
Muscatine won, 61-55, and Wieskamp had 31 points.
Linn-Mar (10-13) led at halftime, 30-28 and after three quarters, 42-40, but the Muskies surged over the final eight minutes.
Muscatine won the final quarter 21-13.
Trey Hutcheson had 18 points and nine rebounds for the Lions. Tyler Voves added 11 points.
Muscatine (15-6) advances to face No. 1 Iowa City West (19-3) at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
No. 1 Iowa City West 71, Pleasant Valley 44
The top-ranked Trojans got defensive in a 4A substate semifinal win in Iowa City.
Iowa City West (19-3) held Pleasant Valley (11-12) to just 10 points combined in the second and third quarters.
Offensively, Connor McCaffery had 24 points and Devontae Lane had 21 points for West.
Dubuque Hempstead 87, Cedar Rapids Jefferson 59
The Mustangs raced out to an 11-2 lead and never looked back, beating the J-Hawks in a Class 4A substate semifinal in Dubuque.
Hempstead had just beat Jefferson, 86-70, eight days ago in Dubuque during the regular season.
The J-Hawks finished 11-12.
Hempstead (17-5) faces No. 3 Dubuque Senior on Tuesday in Epworth.
Mason City at No. 6 Cedar Rapids Kennedy (PPD)
The Class 4A substate semifinal between Mason City and Kennedy was postponed to 5 p.m. Saturday, and the venue was switch to Eby Fieldhouse at Coe College in Cedar Rapids.
The winner faces Cedar Falls at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids.
