Prep baseball roundup: Rommes fires one-hitter to lead South Winn to substate final

CALMAR – Jordan Rommes allowed just one hit and struck out seven in seven complete innings and was 2-for-3 with an RBI at the plate in a top-10 district final matchup Saturday night.
Rommes' fourth-ranked South Winneshiek team won the Class 2A, District 6 title with a 4-1 win over No. 7 New Hampton.
The Warriors (32-8) scored all four runs in the fifth and advance to face No. 3 Waterloo Columbus (29-5) in the Substate 3 final Tuesday at Oelwein.
