Pikokivaka will take over Washington volleyball program

Apr. 19, 2016 12:39 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS — Washington High School announced the hiring of Olivia Pikokivaka as its new head volleyball coach, pending school board approval.
Pikokivaka replaces Amy Faulkner who resigned from her volleyball coaching assignment this past winter. Pikokivaka becomes the seventh head coach in the 43-year history of Warrior volleyball.
'Olivia brings an enthusiasm for volleyball along with development and success in our youth program,' Washington athletics director Paul James said. 'Her positive relationships with Washington athletes and parents will be a big plus in moving forward.'
Pikokivaka is a 2004 graduate of Cedar Rapids Jefferson, where she participated in volleyball, basketball and golf. She was a co-captain in basketball and golf and earned academic all-conference recognition in basketball.
She graduated from the University of Iowa, and has been a Washington freshman volleyball coach the past few years and this offseason was the Junior Warrior club volleyball director.
Washington was 3-31 last season.
