CLARENCE - North Cedar's past football struggles could take a turn this fall.
The Knights have had a rough couple of years, suffering through a 1-8 campaign last fall after winning just two games in 2015.
Adam Hadenfeldt is in his second year as head coach and also is athletics director. He will be joined by Andy Bellamy, the defensive coordinator who is in his third year on staff, and newcomer Robert Helgerson.
Helgerson spent that last three year at Linn-Mar before joining the North Cedar staff. This is his first football job, however, previously coaching basketball, track and cross country. He will be teaching sixth grade at Lowden.
'It's only day four and I'm impressed already.” Helgerson said last week during the team's camp.
Both coaches have high hopes for 2017.
'We are just focusing on refining what we did last year and make that more efficient,” Hadenfeldt said.
North Cedar's first game is Aug. 25 at Alburnett.
'I'm very happy with the team so far.” Hadenfeldt said.
