Nick Stein, Vinton-Shellsburg top Class 1A state bowling
DES MOINES — Vinton-Shellsburg senior Nick Stein captured the Class 1A boys' state bowling title Monday, rolling games of 246 and 267 at Plaza Lanes.
Stein's 513 total was 56 pins better than runner-up Wil Eick of Oelwein.
The Vikings also won the 1A team title with a score of 3141, 79 pins ahead of LeMars.
West Delaware junior Miranda Axline placed fourth in the girls' standings with a 426 series and the Hawks were second to Camanche in the team race, 2785 to 2410.
