Murphy will run at Iowa

Apr. 16, 2015 9:44 am
MARION - Daniel Murphy, who led Linn-Mar to a state cross country championship last fall, has committed to run at the University of Iowa.
Murphy, a senior, told The Gazette of his decision Thursday morning.
'It came down to the closeness of the team, as well as the great coaching staff at Iowa,” Murphy said via text.
Murphy finished sixth in the Class 4A race last fall in 15:45 as the Lions claimed the title. Last year at the state track meet, Murphy placed third in the 3,200-meter run in 9:12.46.
He picked Iowa over Minnesota, and plans to major in chemical engineering.
