DES MOINES - Monday's games at the girls' state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
CLASS 1A QUARTERFINAL
No. 11 SPRINGVILLE (21-3) vs. No. 4 FREMONT-MILLS (23-1)
* Time: 3:15 p.m.
* Tournament history: Springville is making its third appearance, its first since a runner-up finish in 2009. The Orioles were 1A champions in 2008. Fremont-Mills is making its second state trip, the other came in 1965.
* Coaches: Nate Sanderson is 59-55 in five years at Springville, 128-151 in 13 seasons overall. Knights Coach Rod Williams owns a seven-year record of 106-51.
* Key players: Mikayla Nachazel (5-10, fr.) paces Springville at 12.0 points per game. Outside shooter Sarah Matus (5-0, sr.) adds 11.8 ppg, Rylee Menster (5-3, fr.) tallies 11.4, plus high numbers of assists and steals. Macy Williams (5-7, sr.) is the key player for Fremont-Mills at 17.3 points, 6.1 assists and 4.3 steals per game. Andrea McClary (6-0, sr.) adds 13.6 ppg, Taryn Williams (5-7, sr.) 12.0.

CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 13 CASCADE (21-3) vs. No. 1 UNITY CHRISTIAN (24-0)
* Time: 5 p.m.
* Tournament history: Cascade is at state for the third straight year and the fifth time overall. The Cougars were semifinalists each of the last two years (3A in 2013, 2A in 2014). Last year's 3A runner-up to Orange City rival MOC-Floyd Valley, Unity Christian has qualified for the fifth time.
* Coaches: Mike Sconsa has compiled a 219-47 record in 11 years at Cascade. Jay Schuiteman is 173-102 in 12 years at Unity.
* Key players: Carolyn Trumm (5-8, sr.) is the key returner from last year's team, averaging 12.6 points and 6.0 rebounds per game. Bailey Holmes (5-6, sr.) adds 9.6 points per contest. Unity is led by Anna Kiel (6-0, jr.) at 15.3 points and 8.9 rebounds per game. Kassidy DeJong (5-11, sr.) adds 14.6 points per game and has scored more than 1,000 in her career. Chanda Zomermaand (5-7, jr.) is at 13.4 ppg.
* BC Moore computer projection: Unity Christian by 29.
No. 3 NORTH LINN (23-1) vs. No. 9 DES MOINES CHRISTIAN (20-4)
* Time: 8:30 p.m.
* Tournament history: North Linn has qualified for the third time. The Lynx were 2A semifinalists last year. Des Moines Christian is making its second straight appearance; the Lions debuted last year.
* Coaches: Brian Wheatley is 189-69 in 11 seasons at North Linn, including five straight years of 20 wins or more. Brad Johnson is in his first year at Des Moines Christian and owns a 20-4 mark there, 161-137 in 13 years overall.
* Key players: Drake signee Nicole Miller (5-8, sr.) paces North Linn at 26.1 points and 7.8 rebounds per game, ranking second in the state in scoring. Maddie Boer (5-6, sr.) adds 12.5 ppg, Morgan Boer (5-11, jr.) 10.8. Minnesota State recruit Elsa Anderson (6-0, sr.) averages 16.1 points and 9.5 rebounds per game for Des Moines Christian; Ebby Prewitt (5-7, jr.) adds 12.3 ppg.
