Metro Youth Football Association registration deadline nears

The registration deadline for the upcoming Metro Youth Football Association season is Saturday, June 18. The league includes a Fall Tackle League for fourth through sixth-grade players and a Spring Flag League for first through fourth-grade players.

Registration fee is $85 with the fall season, beginning Aug. 15 and completing at the end of October.

You can register, which is preferred by the league, at http://www.metroyouthfootball.com/dates.html . According to the organization's website, players are placed on teams based on grade, school that they attend, future high school and order of registration. All players must weigh-in and provide proof grade to complete their registration. Players who miss the deadline will be placed only on teams with room on their rosters.

MYFA was established in 1971 and has about 1,200 players in the tackle leagues and 1,300 players in the flag-football league. The organization has a complex located in NE Cedar Rapids with three lighted full-sized fields, welcoming teams throughout the Cedar Rapids and Marion Metro and some surrounding communities.
