McCaffery brothers lead No. 1 West in rout at City High

IOWA CITY — Connor McCaffery scored 16 of his game-high 25 points in the first half, and Class 4A top-ranked Iowa City West throttled Iowa City High, 82-38, in a Mississippi Valley Conference boys' basketball game Tuesday night at City High.

An 11-0 run staked West (11-1 overall, 8-1 MVC) to a 21-8 lead after a quarter. It was 46-16 at intermission after a 7-of-11 West 3-point onslaught.

The Trojans completed a regular-season sweep of the Little Hawks (3-11, 2-7). It was 78-27 at West on Dec. 13.

Patrick McCaffery added 18 points for the Trojans, including three dunks. Evan Flitz scored 11, and Devontae Lane supplied five assists and six steals.

Charles Johnson paced City High with 14 points and seven rebounds.
