Marty Thomae was national coaching finalist

VAN HORNE — Benton Community cross country coach Marty Thomae was a finalist for national coach-of-the-year honors.
Thomae has coached 34 years, and his girls' teams won three state championships. He has been active with the Iowa Track Coaches Association.
As reported Wednesday, Jim White of Solon is the national coach of the year for softball. Harlan's Mitch Osborn won the national award for boys' basketball.
