Marion knocks off Solon in Class 3A postseason opener

SOLON – Visiting Marion scored eight unanswered runs and knocked off Solon in a Class 3A District 8 semifinal Friday night, 9-1.
David Kuhn allowed just one hit, two walks and an unearned run while striking out eight in seven complete innings for the Indians.
Marion took the lead for good when Baylor Fish dropped in a two-RBI single with the bases loaded in the bottom of the third.
The Indians struck first on John Carstenson's RBI double. Solon's only run came on an error in the second inning.
Marion (24-16) advances to Monday's district final opposite Dubuque Wahlert, scheduled to take place at Solon.
The Spartans, who split one-run games with Marion in late May, end the season 22-16.
