Logan Cook commits to the Hawkeyes

Aug. 2, 2017 4:18 pm
IOWA CITY — Her father starred at the University of Iowa. Her brother is working his way through the ranks.
And now, Logan Cook will follow them.
A 6-foot-1 all-state forward from Iowa City West, Cook has orally committed to play basketball for the Hawkeyes.
'This is a dream come true,' Cook said in a release Wednesday afternoon. 'I have grown up in Iowa City and attended Hawkeye games and camps at Carver-Hawkeye Arena since I was little. I've always looked up to the Iowa coaching staff and the players that attended the program. They have been role models for me and I dreamed that one day I would be a part of it.'
A senior-to-be, Cook averaged 15 points and 6.2 rebounds per game, leading the Women of Troy to the Class 5A state semifinals. She was a first-team all-state selection by the Iowa Newspaper Association.
'Logan has improved since the first day she's been here,' West Coach B.J. Mayer said. 'If she continues to improve and work hard, she's got a chance to make an impact.'
Cook is the daughter of Marv Cook, former Hawkeye and NFL tight end and current football coach at Iowa City Regina. Her brother Drew is on the Iowa football team.
She picked the Hawkeyes over Creighton, Drake and Miami of Ohio.
'This decision will allow me to continue to pursue my dreams and goals as both a student and as an athlete,' Cook said. 'I'm excited to have the decision made so I can focus all my energy on having the very best possible senior season with my friends and teammates.'
Cook is the third member of the recruiting class of 2018 to commit to the Hawkeyes, joining Monika Czinano (6-3 post, Watertown, Minn.) and Kate Martin (6-0 guard, Edwardsville, Ill.).
