FT: Iowa City West 2, Johnston 1. The Women of Troy exact revenge and are back in the state final for the first time since 2009. West will play Dowling at 4 p.m. Saturday.
78' West is two minutes away from the final. Midfield has done a great job fending off any potential attacks in the final minutes.
75' Nothing too threatening for Johnston in the last five minutes. They will have to send more numbers forward quickly.
On the other field, Valley leads top-ranked Dowling 1-0 midway through the second half.
72' Ball bounces in the box to Morgan Schmitt-Morris, who nearly runs on to it enough before it's tipped out for a corner kick by Carley.
69' Johnston playing with a lot more energy, fueled, too, by its crowd. West will have to match that in the final 11 minutes to not give up an equalizer.
64' Thompson is at it again, beating a tired West back line and putting a shot over the bar.
61' GOAL. Johnston is right back in it. A corner kick falls to Payton Thompson who is able to put it over Ryan. 2-1 West.
54' Payton Pottratz tries to get her name on the scoring sheet, blasting one that Carley tips off the crossbar.
52' GOAL. Referring to the previous line ... except that one. Leah Rhodes finally has an opportunity and makes the most of it. Back on the left side, she takes a through ball into the box and hits the net on the opposite post. 2-0 West.
50' Anna Zimmerman gets some space and launches, but it's easily in the hands of Carley. The vast majority of West's shots have come from distance.
48' Johnston's first forray into the attacking third of the second half is its best chance of the game. Megan Kimrey gets into the box and hits it off the post, where it sits on the goal line waiting for one touch. Ryan gets there first for West.
47' Steigleder spins in the midfield and fires a cracker over the bar. West's halftime message seems to have gotten through.
43' West is awarded a free kick just outside the box and Steigleder's shot is just over the bar.
42' Almost immediately, West gets the first chance of the second half. Steigleder plays a through ball to Emma Cooper, who fires for the top shelf. Carley is there for the save.
41' Back underway on Field 6. Message on the West bench seems to be to push higher and not allow Johnston into the game.
Valley and Dowling, by the way, are scoreless in the 35th minute of the other Class 3A semifinal.
Unofficial halftime statsGoals: West 1 (Steigleder 8'), Johnston 0
Shots: West 7, Johnston 3

HT: Iowa City West 1, Johnston 0. Steigleder's brilliance the difference through 40 minutes.
38' From The Gazette's Susan Harman: "(Regular starter) Heelah Nadler hasn't played for West, guessing her ankle injury from yesterday is factor."
36' Johnston has one of its better half-chances of the evening as a bouncing ball in the box hits Sam Birmingham before it's deflected away.
29' Johnston finding more of the ball, but West hasn't allowed much. West bench imploring the Women of Troy to hit winger Leah Rhodes, who has now moved to the right side.
21' Not much action for either side after the opening few minutes. West has still been the more controlling and dangerous team but has had trouble servicing the box.
14' Johnston really can't match West's speed and technical ability right now. Dragons getting forward a bit but having trouble getting the ball.
8' GOAL. Phenomenal move and blast from Regan Steigleder into the upper left '90 to put the Women of Troy in front.
7' Iowa City West has controlled the midfield early. Johnston will have to work harder to take that away like it did when beating Cedar Rapids Kennedy yesterday.
2' Regan Steigleder gets off the first shot of the game for West from distance, and it's a decent look, but right at Linsey Carley.

69' A Regina corner and follow-up ball from Gaarde test Storrer, but the Cubs clear the danger.

49' Leading scorer Jenny Wick gets some space for the first time in the second half and fires one on goal that Sporrer catches.
48' Defender Lizzy Deprenger breaks through for the Regals and delivers a good hit, but it's over the bar.

On the other field, Sioux City Bishop Heelan leads Waterloo Columbus 1-0 at the start of the second half.
HT: No. 1 Nevada 3, No. 4 Iowa City Regina 0. The Regals have been the more technical side, but it hasn't mattered. The Cubs' speed and athleticism has been the difference.
39' Lauren Ronnfeldt works her way to the end line and puts in a dangerous ball that bounces off a few heads, but it lands safely in the mits of Sporrer.
37' GOAL. Abby Stephenson nets her second of the game to put the Cubs up 3-0 on a great strike from the top of the box that goes over Stein's outstretched hand.
34' A big collision outside the box leaves Nevada's Elli Cassabaum down. She's able to walk off the field on her own with a bit of a limp.
31' Nevada gets another wonderful chance on a bit of give and go, but Kati Cassabaum's shot goes just wide.
26' Regina is awarded a free kick on the right side of the field and defender Kennedy Brown gets a good head on it, but it smacks off the crossbar.
20' GOAL. Speed kills. Regina pushes numbers forward and gets burned. Stephenson takes a ball at midfield and sprints past two defenders plus the keeper, dribbling it in to make it 2-0 Cubs.
17' GOAL. Nevada's first shot of the game puts it up 1-0. Elli Cassabaum sneaks through the back line, takes a through ball from Abby Stephenson and slots it home.
13' Nevada's game plan appears to be to use its speed, but the Regals' back line has remained disciplined.
