HTC advances
One of the better Cindarella stories at last year's state tournament is out after a match this fall.
Traditionally strong Fort Madison Holy Trinity, ranked fifth, upended No. 7 Sidney in the 1A quarterfinals, 25-19, 25-16, 25-21.
The third set featured 11 ties before the Crusaders pulled away late.
Springville sweeps

No. 3 Springville swept No. 9 Audubon in the 1A volleyball quarterfinals, 25-16, 25-15, 25-19.
The Orioles fell behind 13-7 in the third set but rallied to advance.
Hudson takes control
Lawton-Bronson gave second-ranked Hudson fits in the first two sets, but the Pirates took over in the third before outlasting the underdog in the fourth.
A 25-14 set-3 win gave Hudson a 2-1 lead in the match, then the Pirates closed it out with a thrilling 26-24 set-4 victory.
After dropping the opener, the Pirates trailed 16-10 in the second set before storming back. Hudson erased set point, then scored three straight to win 26-24 and even the match at 1.
The Eagles led the first set virtually start to finish, emerging 25-18.
Janesville sweeps
No. 1 Janesville is one match away from returning to the state championship match, which it won here a year ago.
The Wildcats swept Starmont in the quarterfinals 25-20, 25-21, 25-13.
Janesville didn't take its first lead in the 1A quarterfinals until 17-16. But the Wildcats controlled first-set proceedings from there.
Sophomore Bree Thompson had six kills in the opener.
For 2 1/2 sets, Starmont was pretty darn competitive with the top-ranked defending champs. November 10, 2016
