Kennedy, Linn-Mar advance in prep baseball playoffs

Sammy Lizarraga tossed four innings of no-hit baseball for the Cougars.

Zach Daniels was 2-for-2 and scored two runs, and Jackson Behn and Kyle Brewer each had two hits and an RBI for Kennedy (28-11).

The fifth-ranked Cougars advance to Wednesday's Substate 3 final against the winner of Linn-Mar and Cedar Falls.

LINN-MAR 8, WATERLOO WEST 1

Sam Crawford got the pitching win, striking out six over five innings. Jake Brandt pitched the final two innings.

Brandt Ollinger was 3-for-4 with two doubles and a home run at the plate for Linn-Mar (25-11).

Ryan Wyant hit two doubles, and both Andrew Gassman and Taylor Yoke were 2-for-4 with two RBIs.

The Lions will host Cedar Falls in the Substate 3 semifinal Monday.
