Jones, Haugen lead gymnastics winners

JONES' 4 TITLES LIFT SOMERSAULTS

HIAWATHA - Ellie Jones of Somersaults Gymnastics won four Xcel Gold titles at last weekend's Leapin' Leprechaun meet hosted by the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics.

Jones won the vault, bars, floor exercise and all-around, leading her team to the championship.

Bailey Hakert, Bailey Davis and Laura Swart all won three events - Hakert the vault, bars and all around in Xcel Bronze, Davis the beam, floor and all around in Xcel Silver, and Swart the vault, floor and all around in Xcel Gold.

Isabel Hawker won two events, the vault and bars in Xcel Silver.

Other Somersaults winners were Emily Hendersen (floor) and Ava Christensen in Xcel Bronze; Megan Schulte (bars), Clare Swanson (vault) and Lindsey Weig (all around) in Xcel Silver; and Paige Hacke in Xcel Gold.

Somersault placewinners were Ava Blue, Maya Carrizales, Greta Gordon and Meika Neal in Xcel Bronze; Elsa Appleton, Hannah Brandt and Baylee Gabrielson in Xcel Silver; and Gracie Ironside and Alexus Jarchow in Xcel Gold.

The Xcel Bronze team also finished first.

TWISTERS' HAUGEN WINS 5 EVENTS

HIAWATHA - McKenna Haugen won five events and Lyndsey Wheeler and Kelsey Klesner four each for Cedar Rapids Twisters at the Leapin' Leprechaun meet last weekend.

Haugen won the vault, bars, beam, floor exercise and all around and Wheeler the vault, beam, floor and all around in Xcel Silver, and Klesner captured the vault, beam, floor and all around in Xcel Bronze.

Catherine Schooley won three events in the Xcel Silver division (beam, floor and all around), Aliyah Burtis did the same in Xcel Platinum (bars, beam and all around) and Skylar Meyers won the vault, bars and all around in Xcel Diamond.

Kaylee Hageman won the floor and all around in the bronze division, Brook Pladsen the beam and all around in gold, Anna Penning the bars and all around in platinum and Sarah Nolting the beam and floor in diamond.

Other Twisters winners were Samantha Schoff (bars) in Xcel Bronze; Lauren Carnahan (vault), Larissa Cleveland (floor) and Madison Marcus (bars) in Xcel Silver; Hannah Roth (floor) and Blair Pladsen in Xcel Gold; and Gretchen Gehrls (floor) in Xcel Platinum.

Bronze division placewinners were Harper Flannagan, Kira Klesner, Ava Tuchel, Eva Bracy, Kinley Claypool, Rylynn Shepley, Evalee Netz and Josephine McRoberts. Silver division placewinners were Katelyn Callahan, Meghan Burtis, Cora Spiegelhalter, Jasmine Hartney, Elizabeth Schultz, Abigail Green and Emma Brandt. Amelia Berger placed in gold, along with Payton Basquin, Mary Morrow, Ellie Martens and Chloe Hamer. Gabriella Schroud placed in platinum.
