Jessica Heims is 8th in the Paralympics discus

Jessica Heims set a personal best in the discus with an effort of 85-2 3/4 inches, good enough for eighth place at the Paralympic Games on Sunday at Rio de Janeiro.
Heims is a 17-year-old senior at Cedar Rapids Prairie.
Yao Juan of China won the gold medal with a fling of 146-1. The other American in the field, Natalie Bieule, was sixth.
Heims will compete in the women's 400-meter final at 4:12 p.m. Monday.
