Jefferson tops Dubuque Senior in regional semifinals
CEDAR RAPIDS – Jefferson began its tournament trail Friday night with an 8-3 win over Dubuque Senior in the Class 5A, Region 3 semifinals.
Lindsay Culver's RBI double put the J-Hawks up 2-0 early. Jefferson led 3-0 before Senior rallied in the third – a suicide squeeze cut the lead to 3-2.
Jefferson began pulling away in the third, though, which included an RBI hit from Maddie Hansen.
The J-Hawks will host Metro foe Prairie, 4-3 winners over Waterloo West, in the regional final at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
