Iowa high school softball rankings: Dyersville Beckman now in 2A top 5

Dyersville Beckman is no longer in the IGHSAU's Class 3A softball rankings. That's because the Blazers are now in 2A.

A cooperation agreement between Columbus Community and WACO had not been accounted for until last week; when it was, that program moved to 3A and the smallest 3A school, Beckman, moved down.

The Blazers appear at No. 5 in this week's 2A poll, while Interstate 35 replaces North Union at the top. Beckman was No. 7 in 3A last week.

The other No. 1 teams remained the same: Waukee (24-2) in 5A, Benton Community (25-4) in 4A, Davenport Assumption (25-1) in 3A and Lansing Kee (22-1) in 1A.

Cedar Rapids Jefferson (24-3) and Cedar Rapids Kennedy (19-5) each climbed a spot to No. 4 and No. 7, respectively, in 5A while Linn-Mar (19-8) joined the rankings at No. 13 and Cedar Rapids Prairie dropped out.

Mount Vernon (22-9) became the highest-ranked 3A Wamac team, going from No. 8 to No. 6 as Solon (19-8) fell from No. 5 to No. 7. West Delaware (22-10) also slipped two spots, to No. 13.
