Springville is still the top-ranked girls' basketball team in Class 1A.
The Orioles suffered their first loss Friday, but there was no shame in a defeat at now-2A No. 6 North Linn (13-0). Plus, Springville showed its mettle the next day, rallying to beat No. 2 Turkey Valley 40-27 at Rivalry Saturday in a rematch of last year's state championship to keep the top spot in this week's IGHSAU rankings.
TV stayed at No. 2, but there was movement in the rest of 1A. Nos. 5-7 — Lansing Kee, Bellevue Marquette and Newell-Fonda — each fell one spot, while No. 4 Colo-Nesco dropped to No. 14. Glidden-Ralston and Burlington Notre Dame moved up four spots apiece and into the top five behind No. 3 Exira-EHK.
There was no change at the top in the other four classes, either, with 5A Indianola (10-0), 4A Pella (9-1), 3A Pocahontas Area (11-0) and 2A Iowa City Regina (11-0) all remaining No. 1. Pella lost for the first time at Rivalry Saturday, but it came to 5A No. 3 Iowa City West in a close one (57-53).
No. 2 Marion lost its first game this season at Rivalry Saturday as well, falling to then-5A No. 12 Linn-Mar. The Lions are now No. 13 after a 20-point loss to West on Tuesday.
Elsewhere in the area, Western Dubuque went from 11th to 10th in 4A and Cascade did the same in 2A. Union fell to No. 7 from No. 3 in 3A. Center Point-Urbana stayed at fifth there, but was jumped by Crestwood, which moved from No. 6 to No. 4.
Mid-Prairie (8-3) joined the 3A rankings at No. 15 and Lynnville-Sully jumped three places to No. 12 in 1A.
