CEDAR RAPIDS — The No. 1s last week remain the No. 1s this week.
Iowa City West, Waverly-Shell Rock, Western Christian and North Linn are the top-ranked teams in their respective classes in this week's Gazette boys' basketball poll.
Western Christian is still atop the Class 2A poll, even though it lost last week, 64-59, to 3A fifth-ranked Sioux City Heelan. Carroll Kuemper stays at No. 2 despite a 60-56 loss to 3A Harlan.
The big dropper was Pella Christian, which lost twice to 3A teams last week and went from third to ninth. Garner GHV (16-1) moved up from seventh to third.
Iowa City West (12-1) is top-ranked in Class 4A after wins over Iowa City High and Cedar Falls last week. The Tigers went 0-2 for the week and dropped out of the 4A poll.
Dubuque Senior remains second in 4A, followed by Sioux City East, West Des Moines Dowling and Des Moines Hoover.
Waverly-Shell Rock (16-0) and West Delaware (13-0) are solidly 1 and 2 in Class 3A. Mount Vernon lost to West Delaware but stays at sixth.
North Linn (16-0) continues to roll along in 1A. The Lynx's two 'closest' wins have been by 14 and 22 points.
