IGHSAU unveils revamped schedule for 2025 Iowa high school girls’ tennis fall season
Singles and doubles tournaments in both classes will be held at the same location

A revamped postseason schedule will be part of high school girls’ tennis in Iowa when the season moves to the fall in 2025.
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released the season schedule on Wednesday.
The first practice date will be Aug. 4. Competition can begin on Aug. 7. The state singles and doubles tournament is set for Oct. 1-2 with the team event to be held Oct. 6-7.
According to IGHSAU's release, the state singles and doubles tournaments for both Class 1A and 2A will be held in the same location. The team state tournaments will increase from four to eight teams and will be held at two different sites.
In the current format that ends this spring, the singles and doubles tournaments are held concurrently at different locations. The team event will have the state quarterfinals held at school sites with the final four as a one-day event.
This year, the state singles and doubles are scheduled for May 30-31 (Class 1A in Waterloo and 2A in Iowa City) with the team events set for June 4 (1A in Pella and 2A, TBA).
Here are some important dates for the 2025 fall season:
- First practice date: Monday, Aug. 4
- First competition date: Thursday, Aug. 7
- Class 1A /2A singles and doubles qualifying: Sept. 16
- Class 1A/2A team qualifying: Round 1, Sept. 20
- Class 1A/2A state individual tournament: October 1-2
- State team tournament: Oct. 6-7
