DES MOINES — Tuesday's games at the girls' state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
CLASS 2A QUARTERFINALS
No. 2 IOWA CITY REGINA (24-0) vs. No. 7 MANSON-NW WEBSTER (20-4)
* Time: 10 a.m.
* Tournament history: Regina is making its fifth appearance, its third in four years. MNW has qualified for the ninth time, including six times since 2007.
* Coaches: Matt Bolger has amassed a 45-4 mark in two seasons at Regina. He is 134-82 in nine seasons overall. Bret Larson is 97-23 in five seasons at MNW.
* Top players: Mary Crompton (5-8, soph.) paces Regina at 16.0 points per game. She is a prolific and accurate 3-point shooter, hitting 45 percent of her shots from distance. Sarah Lehman (5-9, jr.) adds 10.2 points per game. Faith Troshynski (5-9, sr.) has scored more than 1,000 career points and leads the Cougars at 14.8 ppg. Cloie Herzberg (5-5, jr.) and Brenna Peters (5-9, sr.) add 13.1 amd 12.6 ppg, respectively.
CLASS 3A QUARTERFINALS
MOUNT VERNON (16-8) vs. No. 1 POCAHONTAS AREA (24-0)
* Time: 11:45 a.m.
* Tournament history: Mount Vernon is in the field for the fifth time. The Mustangs won the Class 2A championship in 2010. Pocahontas Area is making its eighth appearance. The Indians were 3A runners-up last year.
* Coaches: Dennis Roloff is 65-31 at Mount Vernon, 379-196 overall. He has taken seven teams to state. Robert Maske is 102-80 in eight seasons at Pocahontas Area, 105-96 in nine seasons overall.
* Top players: Kaitlyn Volesky (5-10, jr.) is a force inside for Mount Vernon, averaging 16.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. She shoots 69 percent from the field. Jacque Murray (5-5, sr.) adds 7.7 points per game. Elle Ruffridge (5-4, jr.) is on pace to become Iowa's all-time leading scorer. She has scored 2,028 career points and is averaging 28.5 points and 8.8 assists per game, Three others are scoring in double figures for the Indians, who tally about 80 points per game. Faith Meyer (5-8, jr.) tallies 12.5 ppg.
No. 2 CENTER POINT-URBANA (23-1) vs. No. 14 MID-PRAIRIE (16-8)
* Time: 3:15 p.m.
* Tournament history: CPU is making its fourth appearance. The Stomin' Pointers won a championship in 1995. Mid-Prairie has qualified for the eighth time and captured a title in 2002.
* Coaches: Philip Klett owns an eight-year mark of 119-68 at CPU, and is 154-82 in 10 seasons overall. Stephen Bender is in his third year at Mid-Prairie and has compiled a 42-26 mark. He is 147-102 in 11 seasons overall.
* Top players: Winona State signee Arika Wooldridge (5-11, sr.) leads CPU at 16.1 points and 6.3 rebounds per game, with younger sister Allison Wooldridge (6-0, soph.) adding 13.3 points and 6.8 boards per contest. Ali Butters (5-9, jr.) paces a balanced Mid-Prairie attack at 12.1 points per game. Addison Rath (5-9, sr.) and Alex Rath (5-8, sr.) add 11.8 and 10.0 points per game, respectively.
CLASS 4A QUARTERFINALS
No. 1 WESTERN DUBUQUE (24-0) vs. No. 10 MASON CITY (15-8)
* Time: 6:45 p.m.
* Tournament history: Western Dubuque is a five-time qualifier, and is in the field for the third straight year. The Bobcats were 1987 state champions, and finished second in 4A in 2014 and 2015. Mason City has qualified for the fifth time, all since 2011. This is the Mohawks' first appearance as a 4A team.
* Coaches: Amy Ostwinkle has compiled a 130-57 mark in eight seasons at Western Dubuque. Curt Klaahsen is 130-79 in nine years at Mason City; he is 284-178 in 20 seasons overall.
* Top players: UNI signee Megan Maahs (6-0, sr.) averages 16.7 points, 11.1 rebounds and 2.7 blocks per game to pace Western Dubuque. Morgan Pitz (5-9, jr.) adds 10.2 points per contest. Mason City counters with University of Iowa signee Makenzie Meyer (5-10, sr.), who averages 18.3 points and 6.5 rebounds per game. Megan Meyer (5-8, fr.) adds 10.1 ppg.

* Class 3A quarterfinal: No. 3 Nevada (21-3) vs. No. 7 Sioux Center (20-4), 5 p.m.
* Class 4A quarterfinal: No. 4 Ballard (22-1) vs. No. 5 Keokuk (21-2), 8:30 p.m.
