DES MOINES — Games of area interest Saturday at the girls' state basketball tournament at Wells Fargo Arena:
Class 4A Championship
No. 1 Marion (24-1) vs. No. 8 North Scott (20-5)
Time: 6 p.m.
Coaches: Corby Laube is in his 14th year coaching at Marion, including his fourth with the girls' program. Combined, he has a record of 199-118. T.J. Case has a 73-22 mark in four years at North Scott.
Top players: Chloe Rice (5-10, jr.) is a Saint Louis commit and leads Marion at 15.4 points per game. Kayba Laube (5-9, fr.) adds 14.3 points per contest. UNI recruit Karli Rucker (sr.) scores at a 13.1-point clip for North Scott. Rylie Rucker (soph.) adds 8.5 ppg.
How they got here: Marion advanced with a pair of defensive gems, 46-38 against No. 14 Boone and 33-24 over No. 4 Pella.
North Scott whipped No. 2 Nevada, 57-27, in the quarterfinals, then eliminated No. 6 Cedar Rapids Xavier, 58-49, in the semifinals.
