Erin Jones announces resignation at Cedar Rapids Washington

CEDAR RAPIDS — Not so long ago, the Washington High School softball program appeared to be gaining traction.

But player defections were catastrophic, and the Warriors plummeted this season.

Coach Erin Jones announced her resignation as head coach on Twitter late Wednesday after an 0-39 season in which the Warriors scored four runs.

Washington was 22-16 in the peak of the Jones era, in 2014. The Warriors were 15-25 in 2015, 14-26 in 2016.
