IOWA SWEEPS SPRINT MEDLEYS
For the second time in six years, Iowa won both the men's and women's sprint medleys at the Drake Relays.
In rainy conditions, Lake Kwaza and Elexis Guster and Montayla Holder gave the Hawkeyes the lead. Then Mahnee Watts, a Bettendorf native who won her first Drake Relays title in the 800 Friday, held off Texas' Gabby Crank to win in 3:55.05.
The men followed with a similar script as Vinnie Saucer, Christian Brissett and Mar'yea Harris gave Sioux City native Carter Lilly a big lead he did not relinquish. The men ran 3:18.53, just under five seconds better than second-place Illinois.
