Don Bosco sidelines Central City

CENTER POINT - The way Morgan Frost was humming along, a little run support was all she needed.
Turns out, she got a lot.
Frost broke a scoreless tie with a two-run double in the top of the fifth inning, and that was just the beginning of a six-run outburst that broke it open in a 10-0 victory over Central City in a Class 1A softball regional semifinal Friday night at the Bob Bowers Sports Complex.
A junior lefty, Frost (15-10) tossed a three-hitter with seven strikeouts.
Tori Even added a two-run home run in the fifth-inning eruption, then No. 9 batter Sheila Harting added a solo shot and Kaitlyn McGarvey tagged a two-run bomb in the sixth as the Dons (20-14) advanced.
They'll play No. 4 Ackley AGWSR in a regional final Monday at Parkersburg. The winner advances to the state tournament July 21-25 at the Rogers Sports Complex, Fort Dodge.
Central City retired at 19-22. The Wildcats pulled a come-from-behind upset Wednesday against 14th-ranked Dunkerton, but couldn't duplicate the magic.
The Wildcats had the first threat, getting a runner to third base with one out in the bottom of the second. But a 1-3-2 double play killed the opportunity.
Frost held the Wildcats hitless until Veronica Coghlan and Sydney Kramer hit back-to-back singled with one out in the bottom of the sixth.
Kailey Tynes matched Frost for four innings before the Dons kicked it in gear in the fifth. A walk and a hit batsman set the table for Frost, and she delivered to the right-center field gap to break the tie. Then the Dons flexed their muscles with three long balls.
