CRAG'S SCHARES WINS 5 EVENTS
CEDAR RAPIDS - Lilly Schares of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won five events at the Twisters' Twistin to the Top tournament last weekend.
Schares, in Level 3, won the vault, bars, beam, floor exercise and all around. Hailey Hakes and Shea Johnson, both in Level 4, won four events each and Gracie Drury in Level 3 and Riley Smith in Level 5 won three. Hakes won the vault, beam, floor and all around, Johnson the bars, beam, floor and all around, Drury the bars, beam and all around, and Smith the beam, floor and all around.
Other CRAG winners were Addison Appelhans (bars) and Bethany Young (bars) in Level 3, and Sidney Davidson (vault, floor) in Lvel 4.
Placewinners were Kulie Henry and Sophia Liu in Level 3, Allison Hayes, Ava Andrews, Emma Kelsey, Brooke Glasbrenner, Lexie Goldsmith, Madilyn Tumilty, Anna Weaver and Grace Walker in Level 4, and Elizabeth Anderson and Alyssa McAleer in Level 5.
C.R.'S KRYSTOFIAK WINS PUNT, PASS, KICK
MOUNT VERNON - Mary Krystofiak of Cedar Rapids won the girls' 12-13 years old Punt, Pass and Kick competition at Mount Vernon last month.
She punted 76 feet, passed 81 feet and kicked 77 feet for a total of 234 feet.
The win qualifies Krystofiak for sectional competition, where she is the defending champ, later this month in Decorah. The top four sectional scores qualify for the team competition level, which will be held during a Minnesota Vikings home game later this year.
