CRAG’s Beyer, Twisters’ Huber shine in state gymnastics

CRAG'S BEYER WINS 5 STATE TITLES

Todd Beyer II of the Cedar Rapids Association of Gymnastics won five titles - and placed second in two other events - at the boys' state gymnastics championships last weekend in Des Moines.

Beyer won the floor exercise, pommel horse, vault, parallel bars and all around, placing second in the rings and high bar.

CRAG's Emersyn Secora won four Xcel Silver titles at the girls' state tournament in Waukee, capturing the vault, beam, floor and all around. Grace Zaugg won the bars, beam and all around in Xcel Gold, Jordyn Erickson won the floor and all around in Xcel Silver and Faith Pladsen captured the bars and all around in Xcel Gold.

Other CRAG winners were Alivia Foser (floor), Ezri Acheson (floor), Lauren Short (floor), Lindsay Ginger (beam) and Kaitlyn Stone (beam), all in silver.

Placewinners were Maggie Schlamp, Grace Noring, Hannah Behrends and Elly Froelich in silver, Kori Lyle and Meghan Ulmer in gold.

TWISTERS' HUBER WINS 4 EVENTS

WAUKEE - Sydney Huber of Twisters Gymnastics won four title at the 2015 Iowa State Xcel Competition hosted by Sapphire Gymnastics.

Huber won the vault, bars, floor exercise and all-around in Xcel Bronze.

McKenna Haugen won three events (vault, bars and all around) in Xcel Silver and Kelsey Klesner won the bars and floor in bronze. Sarah Nolting (floor, all round) and Skylar Meyers (bars, beam) also were double-winners in Xcel Diamond.

Other Twisters winners were Hannah Gralund (floor) in silver, and Aliya Keaton (vault), Ellie Martens (beam) and Blair Pladsen (all around) in gold.

Placewinners were Ava Tuchel in bronze; Katelyn Callahan, Lauren Carnahan, Jasmine Hartney, Catherine Schooley, Madison Marcus, Abigail Green and Lyndsey Wheeler in silver; Amelia Berger, Hannah Roth and Chloe Hamer in gold; and Gretchen Gehrls, Anna Penning, Aliyah Burtis and Gabby Schroud in platinum.
