CPU glides past Monticello in regional semifinals
CENTER POINT – No. 8 Center Point-Urbana jumped all over Monticello in a Class 3A, Region 4 semifinal to set up a top-10 matchup in the final.
The 9-0 win advances the Stormin' Pointers to a meeting with No. 6 Waterloo Columbus on Monday in Independence.
Taylor Henderson's two-RBI base hit got CPU (28-13) on the board in the first. Then Megan Croghan drilled a three-run homer to put the Stormin' Pointers up 5-0 in the second.
CPU added four more runs for good measure, plenty of support for Samantha Croghan, who fired a complete game shutout.
The Panthers' season ends at 15-20.
