C.R. Prairie shuts out Mid-Prairie in softball
CEDAR RAPIDS —
In a battle of Prairies and Hawks on the softball diamond Wednesday, Cedar Rapids Prairie prevailed with a 6-0 win over Class 3A No. 8 Mid-Prairie.
Mid-Prairie committed three errors in the opening frame as Prairie jumped out to a 2-0 lead.
The Golden Hawks loaded the bases in the fifth, but couldn't push a run across.
Haley McFarlane took advantage of a bases-loaded scenario in the bottom half of the inning, lining a two-run base hit to center to double Prairie's lead.
Shelby Frederick also drove in two runs.
Natalie Halvorson got the win in the circle, giving up just four hits in seven innings as the Hawks improved to 22-9. Mid-Prairie is now 20-11.
