Boys' track & field: Area individuals to watch

Top returning area boys' track and field competitors for the 2017 season (with last year's state results)
MYLES BACH, jr., Marion — Class 3A champion in the 3,200- and 1,600-meter races.
JOAH BANKS, sr., Cedar Rapids Prairie — Class 4A 110-meter hurdles champion, and ran on the winning 400-meter relay. Third in the distance medley relay and shuttle hurdle relay.
TYLER BARTZ, sr., Vinton-Shellsburg — Class 3A runner-up in the long jump and 400-meter dash, also second in the 800- and 1,600-meter relays.
WILLIAM BLASER, sr., Western Dubuque — Class 4A runner-up in the shot put.
MARTY BORSETH, sr., Cedar Rapids Prairie — Ran on the winning Class 4A 400-meter relay, third in the distance medley relay.
JACK BUTTERIS, sr., Lisbon — Class 1A runner-up in the 400 meters, also second in the distance medley relay, third in the 200-meter dash and 1,600-meter relay.
JACKSON COKER, sr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Class 4A discus champion, third in the shot put.
JOJO FROST, sr., Center Point-Urbana — Champion of the Class 3A 400-meter dash and 400-meter hurdles, second in the 110 hurdles.

JACK JENSEN, sr., Iowa City Regina — A member of the Class 2A 400-meter relay runner-up, third in the 800 relay, fifth in the 1,600 relay.
JOVONTE SQUIERS, sr., Lone Tree — Class 1A champion in the long jump.
TRISTAN WIRFS, sr., Mount Vernon — Class 3A champion in the discus and shot put.
ETHAN WYANT, sr., Jesup — Class 1A champion in the 400-meter dash, and ran on the winning 1,600 relay, second in the 400 relay.
