Boys' basketball rankings: West Fork jumps into top spot in Class 1A

Feb. 1, 2016 3:34 pm
CEDAR RAPIDS — There's a little bit of shakeup in this week's Gazette boys' basketball poll. A lot of shakeup in the smallest two classes.
For instance, there's a new Class 1A No. 1 in West Fork, which climbs all the way from fourth. The Warhawks are 18-0 and had an impressive 65-55 win last week over top-10 West Hancock.
Boyden-Hull (15-2) was last week's No. 1 but lost to Central Lyon/George-Little Rock, 60-58. The Comets are sixth this week.
After West Fork, it's Colo-NESCO, Gladbrook-Reinbeck, Danville and Jesup.
Treynor (15-0) remain atop the Class 2A poll, with the top six unchanged. Nos. 7-10 are very different, however, with Anamosa, Monticello and Aplington-Parkersburg new entries at seventh, eighth and 10th, respectively.
Pleasant Valley (15-0) and Pella (15-1) are back at the top in 4A and 3A, respectively. Iowa City West goes from third to second, after second-ranked West Des Moines Valley (14-1) lost last week to West Des Moines Dowling.
