Bernita Moser earns USTA coaching honor

Bernita Moser of the Moser School of Dance and Gymnastics was named and awarded the 'Iowa USTA Coach of the Year 2016.'
Moser, who lives in Strawberry Point, was honored for her dedication, compassion, attention to detail and for her 'never giving up attitude' with each and every athlete, making sure the athletes always strive to do their best.
Moser has been an instructor for the school for more than 45 years.
SWISHER'S JOHNSTON ADVANCES IN JUNIOR GOLF
MARSHALLTOWN — Ian Johnston, 15, of Swisher advanced in a playoff to qualify for the Optimist International Championships, held at PGA National Resort and Spa on July 25-30.
Johnston shot a 75 at Elmwood Country Club recently to get into the playoff and birdied the second playoff hole to advance.
This is the third year in a row Johnston has represented Iowa in the event.
