Balanced Marion attack tops Vinton-Shellsburg: Girls Basketball roundup

Chloe Rice scored a game-high 17 points to lead a balanced Marion attack in a 69-34 victory over Vinton-Shellsburg last night in Marion.
Caitlyn Smith and Michalyn Mohr each added 14 points, while Mia Laube chipped in with 10 for the 15th-ranked (4A) Indians (13-4, 8-2 Wamac).
Maci Griffith paced Vinton-Shellsburg (2-15, 1-9) with 12 points.
Marion took a five-point lead into halftime but outscored Vinton-Shellsburg, 46-16, in the second half.
Kennedy 61, Senior 37 - Kennedy Coach Tony Vis got his 300th career victory last night in a win over the Rams in Cedar Rapids.
C.R. WASHINGTON 79, WATERLOO EAST 15 - The Warriors led 60-8 at halftime over the winless Trojans last night in Cedar Rapids.
Joniqua Clark and Anne Visser each scored 17 points and Brittany Cullen led Cedar Rapids Washington (10-6, 3-6 MVC) with six rebounds. Kandis O'Donnell scored 13 and Emily Oler chipped in 10.
Washington forced 35 turnovers and totaled 27 steals in the game. East fell to 0-16, 0-9.
Regina 57, Wilton 35 - The ninth-ranked (2A) Regals won last night in Iowa City.
DUBUQUE HEMPSTEAD 51, C.R. PRAIRIE 37 - Gabbrielle Riley led all scorers with 19 points as the Mustangs beat the Hawks in Dubuque. Jessica Brown recorded 13 points for Dubuque Hempstead (6-10, 3-6 MVC Mississippi).
Olivia Usher led Prairie (2-14, 2-8) with nine points while Emilie Rotter scored eight points and Halle Person scored six points and pulled down eight rebounds.
Wahlert 52, Jefferson 43 - The Golden Eagles topped the J-Hawks last night in Dubuque.
IOWA CITY WEST 54, CEDAR FALLS 44 - Dani Craig and Mikaela Morgan scored 11 points each as the third-ranked Women of Troy downed the seventh-ranked Tigers in Cedar Falls. Ali Tauchen added 10 points for Iowa City West (15-1, 9-0 MVC Valley).
Adrienne Boettger led Cedar Falls (13-4, 5-4) with 12 points.
IOWA CITY HIGH 72, WATERLOO WEST 34 - The Little Hawks broke the game open with a 27-9 run in the second quarter to take a 38-15 halftime lead. No. 9 City High (12-4, 8-1 MVC) forced 29 Wahawk turnovers and recorded 23 steals in Iowa City. Kenya Earl scored a game-high 25 points and led the team with seven rebounds. Ashley Joens and Sarah Plock added 14 and 10 points, respectively, in the victory.
CALAMUS-WHEATLAND 56, CVC 18 - Emma Slagle and Maggie Cach each scored six points for Cedar Valley Christian in Wheatland. Cach also led the team with seven rebounds and three steals.
