ANAMOSA - Growing up, Anamosa seniors Tawny Menster and Karli Oltmanns had plenty of classmates on their softball teams.
Now, they just have each other.
Menster and Oltmanns are the lone seniors on the 2015 Raider softball squad. They have been leading this program ever since they were in eighth grade and, not only are they emotional leaders for this team off the field, but both are extremely talented on it.
Menster is the team's top pitcher and hitter. The Raider senior leads in almost every offensive category with a .492 batting average, .667 slugging and .545 on base percentages.
She also leads the team in every pitching category. She has a solid 1.68 ERA and a 9-3 overall record, logging 75 innings pitched.
Oltmanns also is one of the top hitters and pitchers on the team. She trails only Menster with a .471 batting average, .603 slugging and .507 on base percentages.
Oltmanns also is an outstanding shortstop night in and night out, routinely making breathtaking plays.
When Menster isn't pitching, Oltmanns enters the circle and has thrown a valuable 52 innings this summer, as well.
Softball has been a huge part of Menster and Oltmanns lives and all the hard work is being rewarded with outstanding senior seasons - and a successful season as a whole for the Anamosa softball program.
