A prep football diary: Week 6

Ringing that coveted cowbell after a victory over rival Monticello is one of the best feelings an Anamosa football player can have.
Going into last Friday night's game, we were staring at a state playoff berth and a 6-0 start to the season, plus a second straight win over the Panthers.
We achieved it all.
After a 52-28 thumping of the Panthers, we were more than ready to take the cowbell and ring it proudly to the incredible crowd.
But after Friday night, the celebration was over and we were ready to focus on our biggest game of the year.
Our first Top 10 matchup comes Friday when our fourth-ranked Raiders travel to No. 6 Mount Vernon. This game likely will decide the winner of the district.
We have cruised through each and every game thus far, outscoring our opponents, 267-94. But we know what we are going to have to go through to bring the district championship to Anamosa.
Adversity.
Coach Ryan Streets has preached thus far that we are competing with ourselves, no matter what the score. We have to continue to get better and act as if the score is 0-0 - whether the first, second or third strings are on the field. Up to this point, that is what we have done.
But we are ready to make a statement this week, and show the state how good this team really is.
The dream season for Anamosa football is in full swing as we've completely switched the record from just two years ago. The hope is to bring an 0-9 team to a 9-0 team in two years.
We have made the change, now it is time to make our statement, and show how special this team really is.
