2016 boys' track & field individuals to watch

Area boys' track individuals to watch this spring:

SHAUN BEYER, sr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Third in Class 4A in high jump, fourth in the shuttle hurdle relay

JO JO FROST, jr., Center Point-Urbana — Class 3A state champion in the 1,600-meter relay, second in the 400 hurdles; eighth in the 800 relay.

WYATT GATROST, sr., Center Point-Urbana — Class 3A state champion in the 1,600-meter relay, second 800 meters and 1,600 medley relay, third in the 3,200 relay.

DANIEL GORSICH, sr., Linn-Mar — Class 4A state champion in the 800-meter relay, second in the 400 relay and shuttle hudle relay, fourth in the 110 hurdles.

BLAKE HUGHES, sr., Williamsburg — Class 3A state champion in the 400-meter relay, fourth in the 200, fifth in the 100, seventh in the 1,600 relay.

DALLES JACOBUS, sr., Cedar Rapids Kennedy — Class 4A state runner-up in the discus, third in the shot put.

COOPER KOENIG, sr., West Branch — Third in the Class 2A long jump and 200 meters.

MATT MANTERNACH, sr., Monticello — Class 1A state champion in the 3,200-meter relay, third in the 800 and 1,600, fifth in the 1,600 relay.

JALEN RIMA, sr., Cedar Rapids Prairie — Class 4A state champion in the 200 and 400, fifth in the 100.

KEIFFER SEXTON, sr., Highland — Third in the Class 1A 3,200, fourth in the 1,600.

TYSEN VAN DRASKA, sr., Cedar Rapids Prairie — Class 4A state runner-up in the 800 and 1,600.

TRISTAN WIRFS, jr., Mount Vernon — Class 2A state champion in the discus, second in the shot put.
