Funding is a huge issue in education in Iowa, but just for an hour, we asked teachers, administrators, students and parents to set those concerns aside.
This session at Iowa Ideas 2017 asked: What would you do to improve education if funding was no obstacle?
The session was curated and moderated by Brad Buck, superintendent of the Cedar Rapids Community School District, and featured perspectives from:
-- Abbie Parker, teacher at Alburnett Community Schools
-- Diamond Roundtree, student at Washington High School, Cedar Rapids Community School District
-- Steve Mielenhausen, principal at Madison Elementary, Davenport Community Schools
-- Jake Troja, director of school climate transformation, Des Moines Public Schools
-- Rosario Orellana, principal's secretary, Van Buren Elementary, Cedar Rapids Community School District
Panelists discuss what they would do to improve education if money were no object at the Iowa Ideas 2017 conference, Friday, September 22 in Cedar Rapids. (Sarah Binder/The Gazette)
