2011 All-Star Performances of the Year Announced on ESPN2 Super Bowl Sunday

CHICAGO, ILL. - - Voting for the finals of the All-Star Performances of the Year opened today, Intersport announced. Iowa's Marvin McNutt is a finalist for the Mercedes-Benz Receiver Performance of the Year after winning week seven with his Iowa touchdown reception record-setting performance after hauling in three touchdowns in the Hawkeyes 45-24 win over Indiana. McNutt is competing against 17 other weekly receiver winners from this season's competition. The winners will be announced during the All-Star Football Challenge special, airing Super Bowl Sunday at 4 p.m. ET on ESPN2.
Against Indiana, McNutt recorded six receptions for 184 yards and three touchdowns. The touchdowns covered 80, 24 and 29 yards as the Hawkeyes defeated the Hoosiers 45-24 in Kinnick Stadium. With his first scoring reception of the game, McNutt became Iowa's career leader in scoring receptions.
For the season, McNutt collected 82 receptions for 1,315 yards and 12 touchdowns. He tied Iowa's single season mark for receptions while setting school records for yards and touchdowns. His career totals include 170 receptions for 2,861 yards and 28 touchdowns. He holds career marks for receiving yards and touchdowns, while ranking second in receptions and 11th in career scoring with 168 points.
McNutt also joins all the top weekly vote-getters from the quarterback, running back and defense categories. Fan voting will decide one winner from each category, which will be named All-Star Performance of the Year. Finals voting ends Sunday, January 22.
All-Star Performances of the Year is a four-month competition that lets fans determine which individual performances reign supreme during the 2011 college football season. In addition to recognizing the season's top performances, the All-Star Football Challenge will feature college football's biggest stars in a live skills challenge. In the 13-year history of the event, 41 first-round NFL draft picks have participated in the All-Star Football Challenge. Past participants include Drew Brees, Aaron Rodgers, Santana Moss, Vince Young, Vernon Davis, Donovan McNabb, Edgerrin James, and many others.
The All-Star Football Challenge will re-air on ESPN on Sunday, Feb. 12 at 4:30 p.m. ET and Sunday, Feb. 26 at 4:30 p.m. ET.
