Video sessions from Carver-Hawkeye Arena

It was an interesting post-game scene at Carver-Hawkeye Arena. In the middle of player interviews, a fire alarm was pulled. Players and media looked around and hoped for the sound to dissipate but it grew louder. Eventually everyone was sent from the arena.

It made life difficult for us media types, who were trying to write a few words about Iowa's 71-57 win against Northwestern. Iowa's players were a little aggravated, too. They seemed to enjoy talking about ending a two-game losing streak.

Here are the post-game remarks from those players and coach Fran McCaffery before (and during) the fire alarm. McCaffery didn't sound relieved after the win. He kept the same demeanor as he did after losses to Minnesota and Wisconsin.

Senior Eric May was obviously excited afterward. He had a thunderous dunk that ended a Northwestern 6-0 run. He was more excited after the win.

Melsahn Basabe scored eight points and ignited a key 8-0 run in the first half with a baseline jumper and a reverse dunk. He also was excited to talk about his family members attending next Thursday's game at Penn State.

Guard Mike Gesell did a nice job of breaking down the win and what it means to the team's confidence after losing two straight road games.

Guard Josh Oglesby scored 10 points and had two key 3-pointers in a 10-0 run for Iowa. He played 24 minutes and had three rebounds and two assists. He's getting his shooting stroke back, which the team needs badly.
