Video: Iowa basketball notes: Fuller might play, Archie to red-shirt?
Nov. 30, 2009 4:25 pm
FULLER TO PLAY?
Iowa forward Aaron Fuller could play Tuesday against Virginia Tech after missing virtually the last four games with an ankle injury.
Fuller, a 6-foot-6 sophomore, played only three minutes against Bowling Green - Iowa's third game - after spraining his ankle. Fuller tried to play the next game against Texas, but was taken out quickly afterward when the ankle started to swell. He hasn't played the last two games after starting the first two.
Fuller practiced on Sunday, and Iowa Coach Todd Lickliter said "he'll be available."
"He was on the court and moving better," Lickliter said.

ARCHIE LIKELY TO RED-SHIRT
Iowa junior Devon Archie practiced for the first time Sunday after injuring his shoulder on the team's second day of practice. Archie, a 6-foot-9 forward/post, won't play against Virginia Tech and likely still could red-shirt this season, Lickliter said.
"I think we'll always consider it," Lickliter said. "We'll just have to see how everything goes. When Fuller gets hurt, then you have think about depth and that sort of thing. But if guys stay healthy and we feel like we can fill the holes, then I think it would be in our best interests and in Devon's best interests to probably strongly consider red-shirting him."
Archie started 19 of 30 games last year at Vincennes (Ind.) junior college. He averaged 6.8 points and six rebounds a game.

LICKLITER ON V-TECH GUARD
Lickliter was high on Virginia Tech guard Malcolm Delaney, who averages 21.8 points, 3.4 rebounds and 3.6 assists a game.
"He's very difficult in the open court," Lickliter said. "He has excellent range so you can't help contain there. He passes the ball well.
"You're trying to contain a player that's multi-dimensional. That's hard."
