Video: Captains Devan Bawinkel, Jarryd Cole talk about leading the Iowa men's basketball team

As GazetteOnline first reported back in May, senior guard Devan Bawinkel and junior post Jarryd Cole were named team captains for the upcoming season. Iowa Coach Todd Lickliter has praised their leadership in the off-season and their approach to his style of basketball

"They're not overly verbal, they don't yell and scream," Lickliter said. "They don't need to. I think what you see are guys with high character."

Here's what Lickliter said about Cole:

"I think he's very comfortable with leadership. He's very supportive of what we want to do. I think it's a great indicator as to improvement that can be made when you're open to coaching, and you not only are open to it, but you're eager."

Here's what Lickliter said about Bawinkel:

"A quiet leader that everybody respects and they should respect him.  Because regardless of his role, he's going to always put the team first.  He's going to do things and play right to his strengths."
