Iowa red-shirt freshman running back Brad Rogers worked out with the fullbacks during today's practice.
Rogers, a 5-foot-10, 215-pound power back from Toledo, Ohio, received most of the carries during spring practice after Iowa's four top running backs were out following injuries. Rogers said on Friday he wasn't sure about his role this year, whether than meant switching to fullback or staying at running back.
"Right now we really don't know," Rogers said. "Hopefully everything goes right and everybody competes hard. We'll see.
"It's all up in the air. Everybody's competing for a job, nobody has a set job."
Rogers enters training camp as the third fullback behind senior Brett Morse and junior Wade Leppert. Morse is in his third season as the starting fullback.
Rogers traveled with the team to Michigan State last year when Adam Robinson and Brandon Wegher were dinged up. Rogers didn't play, which preserved his red-shirt season.
"It was kind of up the air," Rogers said. "We didn't know how things were going. I was pretty much insurance to see how everything was going. They had everybody that they needed there."
