The Walkthrough -- Indiana

The gentlemen in the Indiana truck noticed I was snapping photos. They opened the door and invited me in.

It's a seven-hour drive. They left on Thursday night and pulled into IC around 2 a.m. Friday morning. They talked about last week's game in Madison and some of the worries for this week.

They had distinct southern accents. Sometimes I forget that Indiana is nearly the southern-most point of the Big Ten. I think Champaign has got Bloomington by a few miles.

On to the spectacle:

-- It's about 9:08 a.m. The QBs are out warming up. James Vandenberg, check. John Wienke, check. Jake Rudock, check. Trent Mossbrucker, check.

A.J. Derby? A.J. Derby? Buehler?

He's not out there.

-- Some guy out on 218 is on his second flat tire of the day, according to Iowa State Trooper on the radio. That's a rotten way to start your day.

-- Brian Ferentz was just on the radio. I always enjoyed my interactions with Brian.

I used to speculate that, yeah maybe, he could someday possibly be coach here, but now, I don't know. I imagine he wants to write his own name on something.

-- Iowa players are graded. It's not letters, but it happens.

-- Walk-on kicker Marshall Koehn is dressed. Don't think he's playing, just taking note.

-- Indiana wears white helmets. I didn't know that.

-- RB Jordan Canzeri is out with the return specialists. He missed last week with a strained hamstring. Looks like a go.

-- Walk-on Kyle Anderson is dressed. He's a walk-on QB from Ames.

-- Mika'il McCall, out since nine carries into game one with a broken ankle, is in uniform today.

-- LB Tyler Nielsen is out there, no club. Doesn't mean he'll play, though. He had surgery last Sunday. Hand injury.

-- LB James Morris is out there. Missed last week with ankle injury. LB Anthony Hitchens also out there. Missed last two weeks with knee injury.
