The Walk Through -- Bigach lined up at DT
Marc Morehouse
Sep. 7, 2012 3:02 pm
I'm just going to fire this up now and keep updating it through kickoff, which is 2:42 on the Big Ten Network this weekend.
Barring an unforeseen agreement, this game will not be on the Dish Network. Check Scott Dochterman's post from Wednesday here.
The above graphic from KCRG weather shows a perfect day for football, sunny and 68 by the time kick rolls around.
Hlastradamus passes on an Iowa-ISU prediction.
I picked Iowa, 23-20 in OT. I was told that's one of the lower-scoring picks around.
The original headline for this piece was The Dude vs. The Opie.
Scott also writes about the tug o' war that's going on in the Des Moines area. How are you going to keep them on the farm once they've seen Lane Kiffin?
Rob Gray does a terrific job covering ISU for us. Here's his piece on ISU X-Factors.
Here's a link to the On Iowa podcast. Scott also picks Iowa. I can't remember the score.
Later, I'm playing this on the XBox, along with Iowa's first game. I didn't get a chance to do that with the Chicago trip going on.
KCRG's "Countdown To Kickoff" airs tomorrow morning at 10:30. I'm on it!! How about that. I'll be the one in the college professor jacket who smells like pho.
Iowa RB Jordan Canzeri is going through full-contact in practice now. I don't know what that means, so still could be months or weeks, as Kirk Ferentz said last week.
Enjoy the game! Remember, 2:42 on BTN.
And here's the new, new, new trophy.
Wow, it's a beautiful day. I love our state.
Here's the Iowa State truck:
-- I played this on the XBox last night. Lots of turnovers. Four picks from Vandenberg and three picks and a fumble by Jantz.
LB Christian Kirksey picked off a pass in the flat to set up the tying TD, a 1-yard run by Damon Bullock. CB Micah Hyde caused a fumble that DE Steve Bigach recovered deep in ISU territory. Mike Meyer drilled a 23-yarder with 1:30 left for the winning margin.
I suck at XBox.
-- Listening to ISU radio. They're talking about Jantz taking sacks last week. Tulsa did sack Jantz four times. The Golden Hurricane was athletic and quick on the DL. Of course, you know all about Iowa giving up six sacks gave up, mostly against a straight four-man rush.
-- Iowa or Iowa State fan, I think we all can grok this.
-- Iowa State is on the field in sweats and T-shirts. The pregame radio show is on.
-- Former Iowa DE and seven-year NFLer Matt Roth is back in IC finishing a degree in American Studies and/or sports health studies. He's on the pregame radio now.
-- Roth on meeting former ISU QB Seneca Wallace in Cleveland: "I walked in the lockerroom and told him I hated him, and we laughed."
-- Iowa QBs out there. Vandenberg throwing the ball to CJF with Ray Hamilton catching for him.
-- Capital One and Buffalo Wild Wings bowls are here today. I'll take the spicy garlic.
-- Specialists out. Here's the throwbacks from 1922:
What do you think?
-- Mike Meyer range watch: 45, right hash into the north end zone, good with no problem.
-- Iowa has three scholarship punters dressed today -- Kornbrath, Wienke and Mullings.
-- Greg Mabin is in uni. Doesn't mean the true frosh WR will play, but there that is. Michael Malloy also out there. KF said on the radio this week that Malloy will play.
-- Steve Ferentz, true frosh TE, in uni.
-- Cam Wilson in uni, so is George Krieger-Kittle.
-- KF and Paul Rhoads meet at midfield.
-- Let's get to the team drill. I'll note any changes. Right now, I don't expect any.
-- Steve Bigach rotated in at DT. Hmmm.
-- Talked to Matt Roth. He's got 30 hours of schooling left. He's also married and has a 10th-month-old. Great guy. Wants a job in sales.
OK, let's kick this thing off.
There will be weather Saturday (KCRG Weather)
Check it out, the new Cy-Hawk Trophy. It now has 10 minutes of tradition.
Don't worry, the Iowa State truck is where it's supposed to be. (Me)
Kill it with fire.
