Kirk Ferentz had a brief five minutes on the Big Ten teleconference. He's scared everyone away.
Here's a summary:
Opener -- Proud and honored to be associated with such a great concept. Appreciate Hy-Vee to be involved. Happy with win. Both teams competed hard. Right back to it and face a real challenge heading over to Nebraska.
No Marvin on Biletnikoff list -- First didn't know it came out and didn't know he wasn't on it. I know the guy at Oklahoma State (Justin Blackmon) is having a year. Marvin is playing well for us. Great story. I think he's set just about every record you can set around here. Dwight, Harmon, Hughes, went on to have great careers in the NFL. The biggest compliment I can pay Marvin is that he continues to improve every week.
How interested are the scouts in him -- I think they're looking at a lot of our seniors. I think he's helped his cause. Improving each week, I know that's something NFL people like to see and he's shown that.
On DT Mike Daniels -- Mike's been nicked up a lot this year, unfortunately, and I think that's affected his performance. He showed a lot of energy in practice and that showed up on the game field.
On RB Marcus Coker growing as a young player -- Think that's a key point, he is a young guy. Marcus incurred some injuries too during camp. He's finally healthy and consistent. Hard working, respected by everyone on team and coaching staff because of his work ethic and production on the field.
That was it.
Ferentz news conference is 12:45. I'll summarize here as soon as humanly possible. Thanks for visiting On Iowa.
