Iowa is in an NCAA men's basketball tournament play-in game against Tennessee Wednesday night at Dayton, Ohio.
If the Hawkeyes (20-12) win, they will be the No. 11 seed in the Midwest Region, and will face No. 6 Massachusetts Friday in Raleigh, N.C. The winner of that game will play Sunday against the winner of Friday's Duke-Mercer game.
Tennessee is 21-12. It had a five-game losing streak snapped by No. 1 Florida in the SEC tournament semifinals.
Iowa State will start NCAA play Friday in San Antonio, Texas, against North Carolina Central. The Cyclones (26-7) are the No. 3 seed in the East Region. North Carolina Central (28-5) is coming off the Mid Eastern Athletic Conference tourney title. The Eagles have won their last 20 games.
The winner of ISU-NCCU will play the winner of Friday's North Carolina-Providence game.
