McCaffery's the new coach, but there is a back story
Iowa's coaching search is complete with Fran McCaffery taking the position on Sunday. Barring a "Whoa, Pig, Soooeeyy!" moment like when Dana Altman quit Arkansas after one day three years ago, McCaffery will coach the team this fall. The information accumulated during the search gets filed away and used only in the event of a future coaching change.
But before the today's introduction of McCaffery, consider there were plenty of scenarios developing behind the scenes. Among them was Iowa's interest in Dayton Coach Brian Gregory, who turned down an opportunity to interview before his season ends this week.
